Hayley T Dillon
Hayley Dillon is an exercise cardio-oncology PhD candidate and accredited exercise scientist within the Cardiometabolic Health and Exercise Physiology Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and Deakin Universities the Institute of Physical Activity and Nutrition. Hayley is also a clinical trial coordinator in the Chronic disease and Ageing group at Monash University.
Hayley’s research is predominantly focussed on using exercise testing and training to characterise and improve cardiovascular outcomes for individuals undergoing allogeneic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of haematological malignancy. Hayley is interested in how the allogeneic stem cell transplant process, and cancer treatments alike, affect the heart, blood vessels, and muscles, which she studies through advanced, state-of-the-art exercise testing and imaging methods including cardiopulmonary exercise testing, exercise cardiac MRI, muscle MRI and DEXA. Hayley’s research also investigates whether the negative impact of cancer treatments can be prevented through personalised non-pharmacological interventions such as exercise training and sedentary time reduction.
Hayley has now submitted her PhD thesis and is eagerly awaiting conferral.
